Thank you to the wonderful volunteers from the Marion Historic Village Museum for recently hosting me on a tour of their museum and showing me their exciting plans for extending the exhibition space. It was a pleasure to update the parliament on the Museum, created in 2011 by a small group of volunteers, dedicated to preserving and promoting Marion's distinctive cultural heritage.
Congratulations to the amazing members of our local Boothby community who were recently awarded Orders of Australia & Meritorious Awards. It was wonderful to update the Parliament on the tremendous contributions made to our nation by each of our high-achieving recipients.
The fantastic redevelopment of the Coach House at Old Government House in the Belair National Park has been awarded first prize in the SA Architects Awards Ceremony, Small Project Architecture category! Congratulations to President Wayne Gallasch, Secretary Tina Gallasch & all members from the Friends of Old Government House, along with Ian Hamilton of Arcuate Architects & Project Manager, Peter Stokes, for you amazing efforts. It was wonderful to join the Friends last year for the official opening of this beautiful redevelopment, which has enhanced the visitor experience, to an important part of South Australia's heritage. Funding for the project was made possible with $200,000 delivered by the Scott Morrison (ScoMo) Liberal Government, through the $649 million Adelaide City Deal.
Protecting the rule of law & sovereignty in the Indo-Pacific region requires Australia to maintain strong ties with our strategic partners across the globe. I asked the Minister for Defence, Peter Dutton, to outline how the Scott Morrison (ScoMo) Liberal Government's strong relationship with our strategic partners is ensuring prosperity & stability in our region.
Australian small businesses are a big deal. They are the lifeblood of our local communities & they’ve been hit hard by COVID-19 economic conditions. That's why it is so important we back them in. It's what the ‘Go Local First’ support campaign, backed by the Scott Morrison (ScoMo) Liberal Government, is all about. The small local businesses we all know and love need Australians to get out there, spending & shopping locally. Through ‘Go Local First’ we are putting $8 million into the hands of the small business community to help ensure small business remains top of mind when Australians go to spend their hard-earned money. There is so much we need to do to fix the culture in federal Parliament as gutsy women like Kate Ellis, Senator Sarah Hanson-Young & Natasha Stott-Despoja outline in Kate’s excellent book ‘Sex Lies & Question Time’. Huge thanks to the The Advertiser for publishing my opinion piece on this very important issue today. If we can’t fix federal Parliament what hope do women around Australia have of fixing the issues they face each & every day?
It was a huge honour to attend the naming of the Rowing Australia Australian Olympic Team today in Adelaide. These incredible sportsmen & sportswomen sacrifice career & study & normal day-to-day life to represent our nation. So very proud of them all & can’t wait to watch them win medals in Tokyo 🥇🥇🥇
NDSP Plan Managers are a local success story, specialising in maximising outcomes for clients on the NDIS National Disability Insurance Scheme. Headquartered in South Australia, the team now employs over 130 across Australia, supporting almost 10,000 clients in every corner of the country. It was wonderful to tour their local head office, with CEO, Graham Oades, & Managing Director & Founder, Don Dickie, to see firsthand some of the amazing work they do.
Medicare funding under the Scott Morrison (ScoMo) Liberal Government continues to rise, with $125.7 billion to be invested over the next four years. Our commitment to Medicare is rock solid. These figures show that we are supporting the health and wellbeing of Australians more than ever before.
The Marion Historic Village Museum is a hidden gem within Boothby, located on Township Rd, Marion, that provides visitors with extensive interactive displays which showcase the tremendous history of Marion & surrounding suburbs. It was wonderful to catch up with the team of dedicated volunteers that curate the collection & showcase their fantastic knowledge of the local area through guided tours. Special thanks to David Jarman who showed me around some of the new displays built by the museum team!
From planning to delivery! 🚂🚂 The Flinders Link rail line has been incredible for commuters in our local community, since opening late last year. I am proud to have delivered this vital upgrade, which I worked to see happen for our local community from when I became the Liberal candidate back in 2015. These photos show me with local community volunteer legend and City of Mitcham Citizen of the Year John Arthur, who is the President of the Bedford Park Residents Association, back in 2015 and just two weeks ago, also with the VC of Flinders University Colin Stirling. The new line now links Flinders University & Flinders Medical Centre to the City & the $141 million project was jointly funded by the Scott Morrison (ScoMo) & Steven Marshall Liberal Governments.
Recycling more of what we use helps us to better protect & conserve our environment. ♻️ ♻️ ♻️ Earlier this year, the Scott Morrison (ScoMo) Liberal Government committed $5.35 million to our increase domestic capacity in Adelaide’s southern suburbs, through a nation-leading Material Recovery Facility at the Southern Region Waste Resource Authority. Last month, together with the state government, we backed this project even further with an additional $3.14 million commitment. This facility will recycle more of what our local communities use in the City of Marion, City of Holdfast Bay & City of Onkaparinga, eventually scaling up to service the City of Mitcham & Fleurieu. It’s our waste, it’s our responsibility.
The Scott Morrison (ScoMo) Liberal Government is delivering lower emissions while protecting our economy, jobs and investment. The latest data has Australia’s emissions at the lowest level on record. Our investment in low emissions technologies will enable Australia to continue to meet and beat our emissions reduction targets.

This week's National Accounts have confirmed Australia’s economy is now bigger than it was pre-pandemic, a feat no major advanced economy has achieved. The Scott Morrison (ScoMo) Liberal Government’s plan for our economic recovery is continuing to lead the world - with our economy growing by 1.8% in the March quarter.
It was wonderful to update the Parliament about the opening of the fantastic new Inquiry & Innovation Hub at Westminster School! The new Carter Wing ensures that students are best placed for the careers of the future & includes new laboratories, kitchens, classrooms for the creative arts & digital media, along with learning suites & breakout spaces for students. With a special video message from Scott Morrison (ScoMo), the new Hub was opened by the Governor of South Australia, His Excellency the Honourable Hieu Van Le AC. This is the first stage of the $40 million upgrade, and I'm looking forward to seeing the entire redevelopment take shape!

Over the past few months since announcing my retirement & outlining the circumstances that led to my decision, I have been humbled and overwhelmed by the kindness and support from my local community & from so many people around Australia. It is impossible to ever thank everyone enough for their wonderful support which has meant so much to me, but I have recorded my gratitude in the Federal Parliament. It has been an honour & a privilege to serve our local community in Boothby, and the nation, and I will do my best to continue to do so as my time in Parliament comes to an end.
There is no excuse for family or domestic violence. We all have a role to play to ensure the safety of all women & children I asked the Minister representing the Minister for Women, Sussan Ley MP, to provide an update on the Scott Morrison (ScoMo) Liberal Government's commitment to improving the safety of women & children in Australia.
Supporting the Australian Defence Force & the hard-working men & women who put their lives on the line to keep us safe is one of the top priorities of the Scott Morrison (ScoMo) Liberal Government. I asked the Minister for Defence, Peter Dutton, to outline how the Morrison Liberal Government is investing in Australia's defence capability & people, which will also help our economic recovery & create a strong Australia.
Congratulations to Dr Rachel Swift, the new Liberal Candidate for the seat of Boothby! You can learn more about Dr Swift’s local connections and long career in health in my speech to Parliament today.
I was very disappointed with the article in the Sunday Mail today, where an unnamed senior male Liberal ‘source’ attacked me. Unfortunately, I was not surprised. This is just the latest example of the treatment I have endured from the ‘left’ or the ‘wets’ in the Liberal Party, while holding a marginal seat that helped deliver us federal government. There is nothing ‘moderate’ about this sort of behaviour & it needs to stop. I am incredibly proud of what I have achieved working with my local community & local Liberal Party members as the Candidate & then Member for Boothby since 2015. Yesterday, the Liberal Party pre-selected Rachel Swift to replace me. Rachel, as well as Leah Blyth & Shaun Osborn, were all exceptionally good candidates & I am proud that the Liberal Party attracted such a strong field in Boothby. I sincerely hope we can find positions in future for Leah & Shaun. I look forward to working with my local members to see Rachel Swift elected as the next Member for Boothby. On a personal note, aside from continuing to serve my local community, I will also continue my work behind the scenes to make our Party & our Parliament a better place for women.
The Liberal Party members in Boothby have selected Rachel Swift as our new candidate for Boothby for the next election, from a very strong field of candidates. Congratulations to Rachel on her pre-selection & also to the other candidates Leah Blyth & Shaun Osborn for all their hard work over the past 6 weeks. I look forward to supporting Rachel in her new role of listening to & serving our local community.
