We have lift off on the Australian Space Agency's Australian Space Discovery Centre and Mission Control Centre!!!🚀🚀🚀 It was wonderful to speak on behalf of the Scott Morrison (ScoMo) Liberal Government at the preview of the Centre, along with Enrico Palermo, Head of the Australian Space Agency and Dr Megan Clark AC, Chair, Australian Space Agency Advisory Board. The Centre will feature a publicly viewable Mission Control Centre, along with: ✔️ A hands-on, interactive Space Gallery area, full of educational exhibits. ✔️ A Mission Control Theatrette, for viewing screenings and talks from guest speakers. ✔️ An Endeavour Room, for direct engagement with space industry businesses. ✔️ A Careers and Information Hub, to learn about the space sector, find out what's new, discover career paths and jobs in the national space industry. Funding for the $12 million Centre was made possible by the $649 million Adelaide City Deal, with the Federal Government aiming to triple the space economy to $12 billion and create 20,000 jobs by 2030.
How cool to drop the first puck at the Ice Factor SA Division 3 Tournament for 2021! 🏒🏒🏒 It was a pleasure to be the guest presenter at the IceArenA, alongside host and developer of the program, Marie Shaw QC. Ice Factor is the only high school ice hockey program in Australia, providing school students with ability to develop new skills, collaborate with their peers and improve academic performance.

The ‘MRF’ as it is formally known will process recycling for the City of Holdfast Bay, City of Marion, City of Onkaparinga, & as it scales up will be able to support Council areas like Mitcham and Fleurieu. This is all thanks to the vision of SRWRA, the Councils and Mayors Amanda Wilson - Mayor, Holdfast Bay, Kris Hanna Serving the Community & Erin Thompson - Mayor, City of Onkaparinga, who worked closely with me & Rebekha Sharkie MP to deliver this project for our local area. Re.Group & leading local business SAGE Automation are also involved in this project. Our local community recently secured a significant win for environmental and heritage protection with the decision by the state government to save the historic Waite Gatehouse. I was pleased to update the parliament on the community pressure, led by the member for Waite, Sam Duluk MP, Professor Warren Jones, The University of Adelaide, myself, and local community groups such as the Mitcham Historical Society, the Friends of Waite Arboretum, the Friends of Urrbrae House; which helped secure the future of the 130-year-old Gatehouse. Now that we're able to move the gatehouse, the vital road upgrade at the corner of Cross Road and Fullarton Road can go ahead, improving travel times and safety for all road users and pedestrians.
On Friday, our local Veterans’ organisations and advocates came together to meet with me and the Assistant Minister for Defence, Andrew Hastie, for a Defence and Veterans forum, to discuss the issues facing Australia's former service men and women, and their families. Groups like William Kibby VC Veterans' Shed - SA, Blackwood RSL, Brighton RSL South Australia, Vietnam Veterans' Federation SA Branch, Partners of Veterans Association of Australia - South Australia Branch Inc, Australian Student Veterans Association - Flinders University and SA/NT Branch, National Malaya-Borneo Veterans Association of Australia Inc, do so much to support our veterans and their families, and I am immensely grateful for all they do. It is thanks to the service and sacrifice of our veterans that Australia remains a free and democratic nation. We owe them our thanks for our freedoms and our way of life.
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE... As I reported to Parliament yesterday, ABC News Radio dumped my speech about the ABC itself live on air, replacing my closing remarks with over 20 seconds of absolute radio silence. So now, not only are the ABC attacking me, they are censoring me as well. Not only am I angry they censored a Member of Parliament, but more shockingly they censored the words of the amazing and strong Aboriginal woman Cheron Long, who has bravely spoken out about violence against Aboriginal women and children.
Unfortunately, I had to give a speech to Parliament this week again highlighting the attacks I have been subjected to over the past two weeks. What is most disappointing is that some of them have been enabled by our public broadcaster, the ABC. But, as we know, the ABC have form in this area as I have been pointing out for months…
I am posting this speech I gave to parliament last Thursday as I think it is important for everyone to know exactly the impact the online trolls and haters have on women in politics. Only by working together can we stop it in future. Unfortunately a lot of this behaviour is encouraged by GetUp and sections of the media, a sad fact that I will say more about tonight.
March is Endometriosis Awareness Month. The month aims to raise awareness and educate the public on this important women's health issue, while raising funds for endometriosis research. This week in Parliament I wanted to highlight some incredible groups who do so much to support women with endo, including: EndoActive Australia & NZ Endometriosis Australia QENDO Pelvic Pain Foundation of Australia Endo Perth Sisters Endometriosis Western Australia These groups provide the most amazing support. To any woman suffering with endometriosis, there are people out there to help you, please get the help that you need.
The Liberal Government's Economic Recovery Plan for Australia charts our comeback from the coronavirus pandemic. I asked Prime Minister Scott Morrison (ScoMo), how the Plan is strengthening our economy and creating more jobs.
The safety of women in Parliament, of female staff, female MPs and Senators, should be above politics. The need to change the culture of our Parties, of our Parliament, should be above politics. It is an issue for us all to address through the bipartisan Independent Review by the Sex Discrimination Commissioner Kate Jenkins, commissioned by Prime Minister Scott Morrison. All of us - Liberals, Nationals, Labor, Greens, independents, the media & groups like GetUp - bear the responsibility for change. We must do this together.
Over the past month we've heard a range of deeply distressing accounts from women across the political divide about appalling criminal behaviour & the failure of the Parliament to respond appropriately. Today, I implored all current & former staff, & current & former MPs & Senators, to take part in the independent inquiry into the culture of Parliament House so we can all achieve the change that is desperately needed. Everyone deserves to be safe in their place of work.
📣 A win for our local heritage with the Waite Gatehouse saved! 📣 Today the State Government announced they would save the Waite Gatehouse after consistent pressure from our local community especially save the Waite Gatehouse. I supported the fight to save the Gatehouse, as did Member for Waite Sam Duluk MP & I am delighted we have won. The iconic Gatehouse will be carefully moved, stone by stone, and rebuilt at another location within the Waite Historic Precinct. The University of Adelaide will undertake a refurbishment of the interior so it can be a home to our many wonderful volunteers in & around the Waite, returning it to a thriving part of our local heritage landscape.
This is our ticket to recovery – 800,000 half-price airfares from the Scott Morrison (ScoMo) Liberal Government to get Australians travelling and supporting our tourism industry. For more information, visit
