Adelaide's southern suburbs are leading the nation in recycling more of what we use! ♻️♻️
As part of National Recycling Week, the Scott Morrison (ScoMo) Liberal Government is making sure Australia is dealing with our own waste here, rather than making it someone else’s problem.
That's why we have banned the export of our waste and delivered $5.35 million - along with a joint commitment of $3.14 million with the Steven Marshall Liberal Government - in funding for the Southern Material Recovery Facility (SMRF), operated by the Southern Region Waste Resource Authority (SRWRA).
The SMRF will be able to process more than 60,000 tonnes per year from the City of Holdfast Bay, City of Marion & City of Onkaparinga, with the ability to scale up to service Mitcham & the Fleurieu.
By keeping and sorting our own waste here, & recovering as many resources from it as we can, we’ll produce much more recycled material.
That means less landfill and more homegrown products made from recycled content. It’s great for our economy and good for the environment.
